About
In artist and filmmaker Jane Jin Kaisen's documentary feature Community of Parting, a community of women use the ritualistic practices of shamanism to process past trauma relating to separation and abandonment caused by war.
A continuation of Kaisen's long-term research into Korean Shamanism, Community of Parting is a visual montage that skillfully brings together footage of shamanic ritual performances with archival material, aerial imagery, poetry, voiceover, and soundscapes to create a deeply layered, non-linear narrative that proposes new ways of thinking and being with others.
Ages 15+ | Contains war references and adult themes
