About
The Pearl Button draws a thread from the genocide of ancient Patagonian cultures in Chile to political prisoners tortured and disposed in the sea under the auspices of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. Shocking revelations of violence are tempered with majestic imagery of water from icy mountains and gushing rivers. Patricio Guzmán's poetic voiceover muses on the connections water holds between these two cultures systematically destroyed and humanity's links to the cosmos by way of rain from the sky.
