About
One of the first science fiction films ever made, A Trip to the Moon, created in 1902 by French illusionist and film director George Méliès is an incredible combination of stunning set design and fantastical imaginings of a journey into space. The film follows a group of scientists who build a rocket and fly to the moon only to crash land in the moon’s eye. They explore the moonscape, watch planet earth from afar and contend with bewitching creatures. This screening is a digital restoration meticulously reconstructed from a 35mm film print of a colour version thought to be lost with a futuristic soundtrack by Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills.
