The film’s charismatic lead Rani (“queen” in Hindi) was Kangana Ranaut's first leading role. Ranaut is credited as a co-writer for the dialogue in Queen and the role launched her as a beloved movie star big enough to have subsequent films written for her – a notable achievement in an industry dominated by male actor superstars.
