The second session of ‘New Voices: Short Films from New Caledonia 2024’ includes the films ‘Mauvaise Pioche' and ‘L'abbé noir’. The session will be introduced by Joe Hardwick, committee member of Alliance Française de Brisbane and lecturer in French cinema at University of Queensland.

At a time of exploration and discovery, incidents were multiplying in the penal colony of New Caledonia. The prison administration regularly deplored escapes; a young prospector pays the price when he crosses paths with two escaped convicts.
