Night after night, two travellers—Umi and Xiao—cross paths amongst the colourful aisles of a university library. Within this space of quiet recurrence, a subtle narrative unfolds.

Told through a series of playful exchanges, Umi and Xiao’s relationship evolves as they wax poetic about patterns of language, trace, and togetherness from within the architectural structures of the building.

Filmed over ten years on tactile 16mm, Lam’s gentle rhetoric and nuanced sound design create a meditative journey that evokes the nostalgia of objects to comment upon the fleeting nature of human connection.
