About

Join us for a talk from writer and translator Dylan Cheung as part of 'In the Mood for Maggie Cheung'. This event is free, with no bookings required.

Maggie Cheung Man-yuk emerged as one of Hong Kong’s most beloved stars at the height of the city’s prosperity in the 1980s. In two short decades, she became not just one of Chinese-language cinema’s greatest actors, but also one of the world’s most enduring and enigmatic screen presences. Writer and translator Dylan Cheung will discuss Cheung’s life and career, exploring its place in the wider context of Hong Kong itself and its rich cinematic heritage.

Dylan Cheung is a writer and translator with a focus on Sinophone and East Asian cinema, especially from Hong Kong. He is based in Sydney, Australia on Gadigal land.
