Glencore Xstrata Queensland Regional Touring Workshops 2013
When
15 – 25 Jul 2013
About
Glencore Xstrata are offering regional Queenslanders the opportunity to participate in workshops selected regional venues in July 2013 as part of the exhibition 'Ruth Stoneley: A Stitch in Time'.
Secondary students will be participating in a hands-on workshop with The Stitchery Collective. The 2-hour workshop will introduce students to creative sustainable ideas and how to incorporate these into their own tote bag design. Students will learn about screen printing techniques and can include an image of their local community into the design of one side of the bag. A Ruth Stoneley inspired twist will be added to the reverse side of the bag; students can choose from an assortment of different pattern squares to create their own 'patchwork' screen print design.
The regional workshop program is delivered as part of the ongoing partnership with Glencore Xstrata through the Glencore Xstrata Queensland Artists' Gallery program as part of the exhibition 'Ruth Stoneley: A Stitch in Time', 13 July-6 October 2013 at the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane.
